Injury After Injury
Just as soon as Spring arrived and everybody started to discuss adventurous outdoor trips, I tore my A4 in the gym. Sigh. It happened on a really small crimp as I was pulling off of it to reach for the next move. I was so excited to make progress on this problem today so I kept trying it over and over again, which ultimately led to my downfall. The worst part is, I could've avoided this injury altogether. My friends asked me to go traverse with them as a cool down, but I told them I wanted to give this problem one last go before giving up. Then, POP !
I came off the wall, feeling shocked. I definitely felt that pop, but the finger wasn't in pain at all... until I tried to make a fist. Eeesh. It was a bit surprising, since I had felt really solid on the hold -- but I guess I can never be too sure.
Dang. I'm not usually this injury prone! Can't believe just a couple months ago I wrote about my shoulder injury, and now the A4. Prior to this I was injury-free for two years aside from a slightly strained wrist -- nothing that was debilitating enough to keep me off the wall. But I guess it's back to recovery mode for me... The shoulder had just fully healed too!
At the very least I know I'll have fun focusing on my outdoor photography while I take time off climbing. Here are a couple shots from my last shooting sesh:
Til next time.
